SOUND OF SILENCE

Patriotism indeed has no language. You can express your love ,you can express your feelings even if you cannot speak or hear. That is exactly what these little bravehearts have demonstrated. Why do not we take some lessons from these young people? These politicians are doing everything possible to bring disgrace to our country, more than half of them are uneducated and uncultured. Some of them cannot even sing the National Anthem properly neither do they understand the importance and sacredness of the National Flag.

My country is going through a very challenging phase right now. The need of the hour is camaraderie and harmony. Its not about West Bengal or Telengana or Jharkhand or Delhi... Its about India. The situation is pathetic and the economic condition of our country is deteriorating bit by bit. I,as a citizen of this country do not have a clue as to what should be done to bail out my country from this situation. I feel embarrassed and humiliated when the politicians go to America with selfish agendas and to the utter dismay of the Indian citizenry are shown cold shoulders ( read doors ) by the Americans...

I am really appalled at the growing rate of crimes against women and children, the situation is getting bad to worse. What is wrong with the people, why are they doing it? What do they get out of raping a woman or worst, a child! If indecent clothes and clubbing till the wee hours is the reason for such heinous incidents then how do you justify the incidents which take place in broad daylight,or before 10 pm, involving girls/women who are in salwar kameez or sari? No, its the mindset. This is not about clothes or makeup. the long roots of such horrendous criminalities are deep-seated in the mind itself.

A romantic poetry , a short story or a write-up on love and its many facets is what I should be writing in my blog. Believe me even I am struggling with myself to compose something really beautiful, but one look at the newspaper in the morning and my creativity goes for a toss. I always try to derive inspiration from my surroundings ,the people I come across , rains, clouds, birds, the whole bundle of joy that nature has gifted us, but all that I see around me nowadays is negativity, mostly. Natures wrath, poverty, death of innocent children, dirty politics, the list is endless. The most shocking statement would be the one where a senior actor and politician went on air declaring that a person, an Indian can buy a meal for twelve rupees in Mumbai and for five rupees in other states !

Question is ,can he ?As the saying goes, practice what you preach but here they only preach and rest they leave upto media. Media in turn makes a breaking news out of these 'faltu' statements and create a hullabaloo to which we all fall prey knowingly or unknowingly. The circus thus continues but one must not stop hoping. Optimism keeps us alive ……

  4. Thought provoking.
What people like us can do is to do best at our level. Tell our girls and the girls we come in contact with to be brave strong and stand for justice while doing the same our selves. Decide to vote independent of parties solely on qualities of the candidate. Tell people you know including those working for you not to vote for a saree, for a bottle of thurra or a 100 rupee note. do your own work to the best of your capacity so that you can be proud of your work.

  5. Hi Aparna, nice to meet you. I can feel your pain at what is happening in our country nowadays. Reading the newspapers makes one squirm with discomfort as there is hardly any good news. All one gets to read is the spate of tragedies nature inflicts on people or one man inflicts on another.

Until and unless we change our mindset, its going to be a hard task curbing all the atrocities, corruption and other maladies afflicting us.

    Thought provoking post.
