FACEBOOK---THE GOOD,BAD AND UGLY

Came across this article in a newspaper recently(the telegraph dtd:21.05.12) which says facebook is hampering the social life of  people .It is actually converting the social creatures into' loners'.On the contrary, I think it is so engrossing that a person can utilize it as a platform to vent his/ her feelings and thoughts through his/ her creativity, whether it is writing, photography or posting some useful tips and links, making friends ,interacting with them. The most charming and interesting quality of  fb is the amount of  positivity it brings into our lives through endless encouraging comments.U can write whatever you want expecting minimal or no criticism at all.In a nutshell,a platform to showcase your talents.God has given us the power to communicate so why not utilize it!!

Those are the good points about fb but the other side of the coin is not that pretty though.Often people use this as a tool  to show off .Sometimes there is a huge gap between the real and virtual profile.Very often ,some married women  go on to the extent of flaunting their figure and dresses(wrong kinds) on fb to titillate  their male patrons. They actually enjoy these vulgar comments posted by their male friends forgetting the responsibilities they have towards their husbands and kids. They do not even mind sending kisses and hugs when it is probably their husbands who need them the most . same holds true for  the men who forget the caring wife who might be waiting for them in the dining room while they are busy flirting with their  girlfriends on fb. What is more appalling is the fact that most of these men are hypocrites. They would not allow their wives to wear a particular attire which they find quite attractive when their girlfriends don it.The so called vulgar dress would then become bold. Some of these men are orthodox to the extent that they do not even allow their wives to work lest they  should become too independent, but their fb profile tells a different tale altogether.. I am specifically discussing the married men and women here because the unmarried people are not always answerable to their partners and do have the liberty to terminate a relationship and start anew.

It is good to connect with celebrities as well..Some of them surprise us with their knowledge and  depth in  music, poetry, etc.still their are some who are eternally dissatisfied souls, who keep uploading their vulgar and grossly made up pictures to extract comments ,mostly vulgar and cheap from their fans.Female celebrities who have already stepped into their late thirties and are not 'in demand' know it pretty well that their shelf life is  reaching its expiry date rapidly and hence cannot do without such posts.

Facebook has now allowed teenagers as young as 13 yrs old to open accounts.now this is where the parents have to be very careful if they are allowing their kids on fb.Monitoring them on a regular basis is  a must. The first step would be to send them a friend request.
Facebook has helped me to come out from the self imposed loneliness. It is my 'stress buster' I would say.Everything in this world has had  plus points and minus points and facebook is no exception either.so hang on to fb.......
